Boarding Information

Bed & Bones is designed to appeal to owners of well-socialized dogs interested in a primarily cageless, at-home type boarding environment. Our licensed Howard County facility opened in September, 1995, though we began group boarding of dogs in 1990 at our former Silver Spring location. Now located on 5-1/2 acres, we maintain a safe, quiet, private facility for canines. Our 9,000 square foot outdoor exercise yard (fenced 5' high with solid wood) provides the opportunity for play and fun with plenty of room to run.

Have a Great Vacation! Your Dog Will!

What To Bring

In order for your dog to have the most fun and pleasurable experience, suggestions are as follows:
Please provide your dog's regular food. A steady diet reduces stress and diarrhea and all dogs here eat their own diet. If your dog has any food allergies, we need to know. Dog guests are provided with many treat times throughout the day. If you'd like to bring treats, feel free to do so...but don't expect any leftovers! All dog bowls and toys are provided.

The first time your dog visits, please bring something that smells like home: a towel, blanket, shirt...so he/she may have comfort at nap time. Dog blankets/beds are welcome--you may expect they will come home dirtier than they arrive, however. And a good rule of thumb is not to bring anything you would hate to see ruined by another dog. If your dog is attached to its crate, please bring it...otherwise, there are spares as needed (please check in advance for availability).

Leash...your dog MUST be on a leash to and from your car.

The Backyard

Our backyard is big enough for everyone to enjoy a good run, but not get out of sight. The dogs are supervised when playing and go outside a minimum of every 2 hours. Fresh water is always available to the dogs in the backyard and there is play equipment (stairs, playhouse, slide), including toys. When it rains, though, there is plenty of mud in the backyard. Your dog WILL get dirty while boarding here. And, if the dogs have dug a hole and it fills up with rain, there are plenty of dogs who will jump in! Many people schedule their dog to go directly to the groomer once picked up. Of course, the level of dirt your dog may attract depends on its coat and level of activity. We like to think a dirty dog is a happy dog! But if this is an issue you might have trouble with, we recommend you board your dog elsewhere.

Vaccinations

Written verification from your veterinarian is required to show that your dog is current on the following vaccinations: rabies, distemper and bordetella. If you are having titer tests done, in lieu of vaccinations, please ask about our policy. B&B can not accept dogs being self-vaccinated by their owners.

We Do Not Accept:

• Any dog who has previously bitten another dog or person

• German shepherds, chows, dobermans, dalmations, boxers, huskies, bulldogs, akitas, airedales, bloodhounds, afghans, staffordshire or bull terriers, sharpeis, rottweilers, great pyrenees, kuvasz, shiba inus, or alaskan malamutes; and reserve the right to reject any dog we deem inappropriate
